Challenges with keeping track of materials

Revised SWG charter

• Max presented the draft recharter, explaining the draft should reflect the direction embarked upon since the pivot initiated by Christophe in December 2024
  • Community members are invited to comment on the revised charter, through GitHub discussions and/or Agora

Discussion on multiscales

• Felix Cremer is working on a Julia implementation and has questions about how the transform property relates between spatial and multiscales, which were answered by Emmanuel Mathot.

Feedback on spatial / coords

• Felix also raised confusion about why spatial is segregated from a coordinates convention, which Emmanuel also responded to.

Discussion on community process

• Patrick Van Laake raised concerns about how the GeoZarr re-charter was drafted. He wanted clarification about who drafted the draft, and expressed dissatisfaction that the revised charter was drafted by an individual rather than multiple people. He asked for it to be noted in the minutes that he doesn't find the process to be sufficiently community oriented. Patrick expressed surprise that CF was mentioned throughout the re-charter but the CS convention was not. Max explained that the draft is a first version, developed in a limited amount of time, and was opened as a pull request on GitHub specifically to have a community engagement period. Max also clarified that while the initial draft was independently authored, it was informed by minutes on past OGC SWG meetings and GitHub discussions. Max committed to sharing materials and agendas for future meetings further in advance of future meetings, and suggested soliciting input from others on how to best moderate a SWG that is committed to upstream community engagement.

  • Explore options for simplifying user engagement, including using google docs similar to other SWGs rather than HackMD

  • Share agenda material for August meeting two weeks in advance
  • Solicit additional ideas for enabling community contributions while following OGC TC Policies
